Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. John (09 Oct 1917 – 08 Oct 1967)
Mr. and Mrs. John Schmidt, Loyal, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on
Sunday, October 8. The day began with attending 10 o’clock Mass at St. Anthony’s
Catholic Church in a group. Open house was held from 2 to 5 p.m. at the church
hall.
Mrs. Schmidt donned a crescent shaped corsage of bronze and gold mums.
The honored couple were married on October 9, 1917 by the Rev. Peter Weber.
Mr. Schmidt was born on July 21, 1894, in the town of York, Clark County to
Joseph and Mary Schmidt. He served with the U. S. Army during World War 1 Mr.
Schmidt farmed and did mason work. The couple farmed until 1956 when they
retired and moved to the city of Loyal. He now confined to a wheel chair.
Mrs. Schmidt is the former Christine Hauser. She was born on July 3, 1895 in
Dane County to John and Anna Hauser. She received her education at Richfield in
Wood County. Before her marriage she lived in Christie. Her hobbies include
gardening and playing cards. She enjoys fair health.
The anniversary couple have ten children who are: Joseph, Mrs. Clarence (Sally)
Becker and Verland, Neillsville, Paul, Person, Robert and Tony, Milton Junction;
George, Janesville, Henry, Mrs. Eddie (Florence) Rueth and Bernard, Loyal; 67
grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
