Thess, Ida H.A. (27 MAR 1884 – 9 MAR 1965)
At two o’clock Saturday afternoon, March 13, funeral services for Mrs. Henry
Thess, longtime resident of the town of Green Grove (Clark Co., Wis.), were
conducted from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home. Reading the final rites was
Rev. Leroy Urman, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Withee. Interment was
made in the family lot at Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lester Kalberg, Arvid Lindgren, Ross Braithwaite, Don
Fredericks, Edward Bjorn and Cornelius Driscoll.
The deceased has been in ill health for the past several years and succumbed to
complications of old age late Tuesday afternoon, March 9, 1965, at Victory
Memorial Hospital, Stanley. She was 80 years, 11 months and 12 days of age.
Born, Ida Helen Augusta Dralla on March 27, 1884 in Iowa, she spent her early
life in Calamus Co., Iowa. On March 7, 1906 she was united in marriage to the
late Henry Thess in a ceremony performed at Clinton, Ia. Fourteen years later
the couple came to Clark County, settling on a farm in the Town of Green Grove
on Jan. 7, 1926, where she has since made her home.
Her husband preceded her in death, passing away Oct. 21, 1961. However, she is
survived by a sister, Mrs. Caroline Danielson, Dixon, Ia., two brothers, George
Dralla, DeWitt, Ia., and Carl Dralla, Calamus, Ia.; two sons, Fred of rural Owen
and Herbert of Curtiss; six daughters, Mrs. Lester (Edna) Wordell, Elkhart Lake;
Mrs. Hilmer (Alice) Gustafson, rural Owen; Mrs. Joe (Bessie) Brandt, route 1,
Withee; Mrs. (Eileen) Gotz, Brookfield, Ill., and Mrs. (Cliff (Louise) Miller,
Clarendon Hills, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and 19-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, who died Oct. 21, 1961.
