Shreve, Germaine I. (12 FEB 1918 – 18 MAR 1965)
Germaine I. Shreve, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Mauel, Sr., Owen (Clark Co.,
Wis.), died at Riverside Hospital at Waupaca at 6:30 a.m., Thursday, March 18,
1965, after a brief illness.
Funeral services were conducted from St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at
Weyauwega at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, with burial being made in Oakwood
Cemetery at Weyauwega. The Rev. Mark Schmitt officiated at the final rites.
Mrs. Shreve’s sudden and untimely death is mourned by her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
H.B. Mauel, Sr., Owen; two daughters, Mary Glenn and Katherine Alice, Weyauwega;
four sisters, Alice Mauel of Wausau; Mrs. Marvin (Rosalie) Koenig, West Bend;
Eleanora Mauel and Mrs. Edward (Irene) Lehnen, Owen; and one brother, Henry
Mauel, Jr. of Owen.
She was born in Colby on Feb. 12, 1918, and shortly thereafter moved to Owen
with her parents, where she was raised and educated in the Owen school system.
Following her graduation from high school, she attended a school of cosmetology
in Eau Claire, and for the past 25 years has owned and operated a beauty shop in
Weyauwega.
On Sept. 12, 1945 she was united in marriage to the late Glenn Shreve, who
preceded her in death, having passed away in 1949.
