College Notes (12 March 2014)

Kate Eloranta of Owen, a senior, college of liberal arts, was named to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities dean’s list (GPA 3.66 or higher) for the 2013 fall semester.

Sally Bautch of Neillsville was named to the UW-Oshkosh dean’s list (GPA 3.75 or higher) for the fall semester of the 2013-2014 school year.

Craig Devine of Owen was named to the UW-Oshkosh honor roll (GPA 3.3 or higher) for the fall semester of the 2013-2014 school year.

Victoria Jensen of Granton was named to the fall 2013 semester dean’s list (GPA 34.5 or higher) of Carthage College in Kenosha.

The following Neillsville students were named to the UW-Green Bay honors list (GPA 3.50 to 3.74) for the 2013 fall semester: Sarah Poeschel and Derek Zickert.

The following area students received the UW-Stout Chancellor’s Award (GPA 3.5 or above) for the fall 2013 semester:

Abbotsford - Janel Vantassel, health wellness & fitness; Colby - Travis Buchholz, business administration; Hannah Woik, applied mathematics and computer science; Greenwood - Christin Haase, Health wellness & fitness; Zachary Lindner, engineering technology; Casidhe Suda, vocational rehabilitation; Loyal - Allison Johnston, hotel, restaurant and tourism; Michael Kaiser, engineering technology;

Neillsville - Aaron Auman, applied mathematics and computer science; Raeann Dawson, Psychology; Jade Gross, vocational rehabilitation; Roman Gross, business administration; Benjamin Mohr, dietetics; Collin Naughton, hotel, restaurant and tourism; Courtney Poeschel, psychology; Justin Poeschel, marketing and business education; Kelley Tews, vocational rehabilitation; Thorp - Tiffany Has, early childhood education; Scott Lawcewicz, manufacturing engineering; Withee - Kaley Johnson, retail merchandising and management.

Dakota Zarak of Neillsville was among the Dec. 22, 2013 graduates of UW-Madison. She received a Bachelors of Arts degree and majored in psychology and Spanish.

Lindy Lewan of Thorp is a late recipient for the spring 2013 chancellor’s award (GPA 3.5 or above) at UW-Stout. Her major is graphic design and interactive media with a minor in applied photography.

The following area students graduated from UW-Stout at the December 2013 commencement ceremony.

Abbottsford - German Hernandez, BS (Bachelor of Science), applied social science with minors in geographic information systems and Spanish; Dorchester - Samantha Horacek, BS, early childhood education; Loyal - Ally Weyer, BS, business administration; Neillsville - Daniel Heiman, BS, game design and development; Thorp - Nicholas Abramowicz, BS, dietetics, BS, health wellness and fitness; Scott Lawcewicz, BS. Manufacturing engineering; Lindy Lewan, BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts), graphic design and interactive media, with a minor in applied photography; Sarah McQuillan, BS, management; Withee - Kaley Johnson, BS, retail merchandising and management with a business administration minor.

The following area students were among the December graduates of UW-Eau Claire. Commencement exercises were held Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, in the Zorn Arena.

Neillsville - Molly Heiman, BS, kinesiology and Spanish; Amanda Pickett, BS, elementary education; Samantha Wilson, BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration), management; Owen - Penny Funk, BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing), nursing.

Olivia Gregorich, daughter of LaVerne and Elizabeth Gregorich, Greenwood, appeared in four recent (Feb. 20-23) performances of Lawrence University’s (Appleton) production of “Street Scene,” Elmer Rice’s 1929 Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Gregorich portrayed an apartment hunter. She is a 2013 graduate of Greenwood High School.
