Dahlke, Adeline Gertrude (18 September 1917 - 14 March 2014)

Adeline Dahlke, 96, of Granton died Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Adeline Gertrude Lucas was born Sept. 18, 1917, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Ernst and Rosina (Hefti) Lucas. She attended the Progress Grade school in Lindsey. Later, she was united in marriage to Henry Dahlke June 27, 1936. They farmed in the Town of Lynn and then in 1952, Adeline began working as a shoemaker for the Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield. She worked there for 30 years, but in retirement she continued to stay busy even reupholstering furniture at the age of 95.

She is survived by two sons, Bob (Evenda) Dahlke of Rhinelander and Bill (Valerie) Dahlke of Granton; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edwin (RoseMary) Lucas of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her parents; one son, Jim; two sisters, Evelyn and Helen; and three brothers: Phil, Johnny and George.

A memorial service for Adeline will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Zion American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granton. Interim Pastor Kenneth Schmidt will officiate. Interment will be in the town of Lynn Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Zion American Church.
