Dr. Richard Larson has joined the staff of the Greenwood Clinic as its second
physician. Dr. Larson, a native of Bagley, Minnesota, comes to the clinic as a
specialist in family medicine.
He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota, and
completed two years of Medical School there. Larson completed his M.D. degree at
the University of Minnesota Medical School, and did his internship at the Health
Sciences Center of the University of Manitoba. He entered private practice at
Cumberland, Wisconsin and then completed a family medicine residency at the
University of Virginia.
Dr. Larson, his wife Catrion, and their 6 ½ month old son Matthew live at 512
South Main, Greenwood. They purchased the former Dr. Stuart Grossman residence.
It was while living in Cumberland that the Larsons decided they wanted to stay
in Wisconsin. Larson was looking for a small town practice, separate from a
hospital practice, somewhere in Wisconsin. They are both Cross Country Ski
enthusiasts, and along with this interest, they like to fish and are looking
forward to doing some canoeing on Black River, that is when the water gets a
little higher. They also would like to try their hand at “gardening.”
Catrion Larson is a native of Edinburgh, Scotland, where she received her degree
in education from the University of Edinburg. Part of Dr. Larson’s training
included a six-week rotation at Scotland’s Edinburgh University, and this is
where they met and were married. Catrion has now been in the United States for
over four years and has found she enjoys the United States very much. Several
visits and calls from her family have kept her from getting homesick.

Stanley Suda, owner of Suda’s Store, Willard, is currently involved in an
internship program – Summer Agri-Business Management – in which he has employed
a UW-River Falls senior for the past few weeks. Through this program, Joe Liegl,
Stetsonville, an ag-economics major, has been working as a field man for Suda’s
Feed Mill. Liegl’s job involves the promotion of insecticides, calf feed and
minerals. Gary Sipiorski, District Manager for Ralston-Purina, said the program
gives young people such as Liegl a chance to work in areas they hope to get
employment in after college. Sipiorski said the ten week program, which ends
August 17, 1979 has been promoted by Ralston-Purina, but added that the program
is really made possible through the cooperation of Suda and UW-River Falls.
