Washburn (1972)
Mrs. Harold Elmendorf talked to her daughter, Mrs. Doreen Maida of Seattle, Wa,
Sunday evening. They had a severe snow storm there last week and to 22 inches of
the white stuff in a couple of days with a terrific wind that piled up four foot
drifts all over the city. Temperatures dropped to 14 degrees above zero. Both
the snowfall and low temperatures were unusual for them. Schools were closed and
everything was at a standstill as they don’t have equipment to cope with that
much snow. Our severe cold moderated a little Monday. We are wondering if it
will continue to be cold all through February.
Mrs. Albert Lincoln plans to entertain the Washburn Homemaker club Wednesday,
February 9, with dinner served at noon. The meeting with Mrs. Lincoln had to be
postponed twice due to the weather and illness. Ladies are to bring their
Valentine for secret pals. Mrs. Arnold Huth, Sr., will present the project on
room arrangement.

Jelinek and son, Roger, were supper guests Saturday of their mother, Mrs. Wanda
