Helgerson, Jesse W. (20 September 1994 – 22 October 2023)

Jesse W. Helgerson, 29, Chili, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at his home.

Jesse was born on September 20, 1994, in Marshfield to John and Jayne (Jonas) Helgerson. He graduated from Marshfield Senior High and worked at Power Pac Equipment and Motorsports.

Jesse was best known for his dad’s sense of humor and his mother’s big heart. He connected with people in unexpected ways – usually with jokes or being brutally and hilariously honest. He overcame challenges throughout his life and was fierce in his determination to better his situation each and every day. Most people don’t change. Jesse grew every day.

Jesse had a big heart and felt in big ways but was determined to camouflage that with his gruff humor. He loved his family bravely, he protected his sister fiercely, was loyal to his supportive friends, and loved his job and his Power Pac community. His quiet kindness, quick wit and comical jabs were bright spots in his teammates’ days. He will be profoundly missed.

He is survived by his mother, Jayne (Terry) Sternitzky, father, John Helgerson (Donna), sister, Aleigh (Ben) Warren, and grandparents, Lawrence (Nancy) Jonas.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Mary Helgerson and uncle, Paul Jonas.

There will be no public services at this time, but immediate family will gather for a small, private celebration of life. If you or someone you know is struggling, don’t be afraid to reach out. There is always someone who cares.

Roger A. Ingold Jr. passed peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2023, with his family by his side on the farm he grew up on and loved.

He was born on December 12, 1946, in Washington, Illinois to Roger and Hermina Ingold Sr.

In 1948, they moved to Neillsville, and bought the 160-acre farm in Neillsville where he grew up with his family. They raised hogs, chickens and milked Holstein cows.

As a youth, he enjoyed riding his pony Dicky, fishing in the creek with his cane poles, hunting and ice skating. He attended Northside Grade School and then later attended Neillsville High School to complete his education. Roger enjoyed running and competing in track and field. In his senior year, the 400-relay team qualified and competed at the state level. He was active member in the Neillsville FFA and was the president his senior year. Roger graduated from high school in 1965.

He joined the United States Army and served for 5 years. His basic training was done at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and he had training in battle, code of conduct, military justice and CBR. He was also an expert marksman with the M14 rifle. Roger was honorably discharged as a Seargeant Major and he was extremely proud of his military service.

He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Schultz on August 26, 1967. Roger worked for the local TDS Telephone Company as a linesman. For a short time, he worked at Urbans. In May of 1967, he purchased a 1967 Pontiac GTO. Which remains in the family.

In 1970 he purchased the family farm with Mary Ann. That year, Roger and Mary Ann became proud parents of the twins, Jim and Julie. Their daughter Wendy arrived in February 1974.

Roger operated two farms and rented a third for cropland. He described his operation as a true family farm with his wife and children. His family is an integral part of his success. His favorite time of the year was the spring, tilling the ground and planting the seed. Watching the crops grow and getting that year’s bountiful harvest and enjoying the fruits of his labor, especially walking through the corn fields. Roger was the recipient of the Outstanding Young Farmer Award on June 6, 1981. He retired from farming in 2003.

He then worked at Save Rite and Kwik Trip. He also worked as a security guard at the Black River Majestic Pines Casino and received the award for excellence and dedication to his job. Following his employment at the casino, Roger did various odd jobs, such as grounds keeper for the City Cemetery in Neillsville and Memorial Medical Center until his retirement in 2012.

After retirement he continued to help with planting and harvesting on the family farm. Through the years, Roger never lost his passion of the family farm. He dedicated his time to the meticulous upkeep of not only the farm, but the land and woods that he loved.

Roger was an avid hunter with great respect for nature which he made sure to share with his children and grandchildren. He was a gentleman, who loved his family passionately, helped anyone in need and created a legacy which he has passed onto his family.
