Simonson, Clifford (5 April 193l - 3 January 2014)
Cliff Simonson, Wild Rose, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday morning,
January 3, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Cliff was born at home on
April 5, 1931, in Mt. Morris, WI, the son of Russell and Alice (Murty) Simonson.
On June 13, 1953 Cliff married Wilma Wilson at the Wild Rose United Methodist
Church in Wild Rose, WI. He earned a Master's degree in education with which he
became a teacher and guidance counselor at schools in Denmark, Greenwood,
Wautoma and Wild Rose, WI.
Cliff was one of the good guys. A great father, brother, friend, and a really
great husband. He was an educator, a counselor, a coach, a teacher in every
sense of the word. Cliff was a kind, gentle and generous man. He never met a
sport he didn't like, and was often found assisting the coaches from his lazy
boy. He loved to play golf. Cliff loved hunting and fishing. He loved doing
crossword puzzles. He was quick witted and loved to joke with others. He had one
bad habit: Cliff loved cars—a lot!! He was an animal advocate and loved his cats
and dogs. Cliff was an avid reader with westerns being his favorite and he
enjoyed any television show or movie with a cowboy. He lived by his faith. He
will be missed.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Wilma "Rusty" Simonson, and their four children:
Kim (Douglas) Pittsley of Wausau, Kent Simonson of Oshkosh, Kriste Simonson of
Park Falls, and Kellyn (Kevin) Zaremba of Winneconne; their five grandchildren:
Brian (Emily) Pittsley of McFarland, Logan Pittsley of Chicago, Jofflyn, Jaymin
and Mya Zaremba, all of Winneconne, his sister, Melba Jean Williams of Wild
Rose, and also his faithful dog and companion, Pal. Cliff is further survived by
several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, and
friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter, Caitlin
Pittsley, and his beloved cat, Sassy.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
