Brossow, Glenn Clifford (28 OCT 1916 - 23 NOV 1983)
Mr. Glenn C. Brossow, age 73, Thorp, WI, passed away at the Thorp Care Center at
6:30 on Wednesday evening, November 23, 1983.
He was born March 6, 1910 to Mr. and Mrs. John C. (Lillian McKay) Brossow. He
was a graduate of Northland College and did post graduate work at the
Universities of Madison, Minnesota and Alabama. After graduation he did
newspaper work at Gobles, Michigan. In 1934 he began his teaching career,
teaching math, science, physics, geometry and chemistry in the Owen-Withee High
School and the Kenosha High School.
In 1958, following a heart attack, he retired from teaching and a few years
later began dealing in real estate until 1974 when a stroke forced his
retirement.
On Feb. 6, 1952 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force. He served as a
meteorologist instructor at Chanute Field in Illinois, and in 1943 as an
intelligence Officer in Anchorage, Alaska. In 1944-1946 he served as staff
Intelligence Officer for the 105th Communications Squadron in Dallas, Texas,
where he attained the rank of Captain.
On December 27, 1942 in West Palm Beach, Florida, he and Caroline Pedersen were
married. After marriage they lived in Withee, Racine and Medford. In 1977 they
sold their home on Lake Kathryn and moved to Thorp.
Mr. Brossow is survived by his wife, Carline; two brothers, John Lynn of Racine
and Elwin of Siren, WI and three sisters, Mrs. Edward (Jessie) Vlack of Corpus
Christi, Texas, Mrs. Julius (Elsie) Pragluske of Waterloo, Iowa and Mrs.
Torrence (Olive) Thronson of Kenosha. He was preceded in death by his parents,
and two brothers, Frank and Fred Brossow.
Funeral services were conducted at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen, Monday,
November 28, 1983, with Rev. Thompsen officiating. Interment followed at the
Riverside Cemetery.
