Funeral services for Earl August Marden, age 72, of Rt. 2 Neillsville, who died
February 15, at his home, are to be held Friday February 18, at 1:30 p.m. from
Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Pine Valley. Rev. Richard Eggen
will officiate and burial will be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The
body of Mr. Marden will be in state at the Georgas Funeral Home beginning this
(Thursday) morning until noon on Friday when it will be taken to the church to
lie in state until time of services.
Earl Marden, the son of George and Minnie (Schuelke) Marden, was born May 13,
1899, in the Town of Hewett. He was educated in township schools and in
parochial school and did farm work during most of his lifetime. He retired from
farming and lived on the home farm for a few years before purchasing a mobile
home in which he has lived for the past several years. Mr. Marden, a member of
Zion American Lutheran church in the Town of Pine Valley, served on the church
Council for several terms.
He is survived by a brother, Charles Marden, of Neillsville.

Funeral services for Earl A. Marden, 72, of Rt.2 Neillsville, who died February
15, were held Friday, February 18, at 1:30 p.m. from Zion American Lutheran
Church in the Town of Pine Valley. The Rev. Richard Eggen officiated and burial
was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were: Arno Durst, Herbert Henning, Rufus Karl, Arnold Karl, Tony
Karnitz and Art Dux. “Softly and Tenderly” and “Abide with Me” were sung by
Ellis Wall. Mrs. Kenneth Karnitz was the accompanist.
Those from out of town who attended the services included Mr. and Mrs. Leo
Lindner, David and Dana of Eau Claire and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Albrecht of
Marshfield.
