Thompson, Cornelia (? - 2 February 1972)
Funeral services for Mrs. Charles W. Thompson, age 91, of Granada Hills, Ca,
formerly of Neillsville, were held February 7 from St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church
in Granada Hills. Mrs. Thompson, who had been making her home with her daughter
and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Brady, died February 2. Interment was in
a San Bernardino, Ca cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Sweden and came to the United States at the age of 16,
settling first in Chicago, Il. The Thompsons lived on a farm in the Town of York
for approximately 23 years before retiring and moving to Neillsville where they
lived for three years. Mr. Thompson, who died several years ago at the age of
93, was well known it this area as a carpenter and contractor. The couple moved
to California 14 years go after li8ving for time at the home of their son,
Oscar, at Pine River.
Survivors include 11 of her 15 children, Charles A. of Chicago, Il, Oscar of
Pine River, Philip of Harbor, Or, Harry of Oceanside, Ca, Harold of Miami, Fl,
Roy of Springfield, Il, and Alvin Thompson of Manitowoc, Esther Sims of Chicago,
Il., Alice Mazola, Jr., of Neillsville, Virginia Brady of Granada Hills, Ca, and
Violet Shaw of Milwaukee. She is also survived by a sister, Alma Wedekind of
Neillsville; two brothers, Samuel Shunnesan of Oak Park, Il., and John Severson
of Castro Valley, Ca; and by 25 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
