Bogumill, William J. "Bill" (18 JUN 1927 - 14 APR 2014)
William Joseph "Bill" Bogumill, 86, of Marshfield passed away on Monday April
14, 2014 at House of the Dove with family by his side.
He was born June 18, 1927 in Thorp, WI to the late Leon and Helen (DeKoskie)
Bogumill. Mr. Bogumill graduated from Thorp High School then enlisted in the
Navy and served in the Pacific on the USS Siboney. After service he attended
Superior State College. Mr. Bogumill met his wife Sylvia "Pat" Schonfeldt and
they were married in Colby on October 24, 1953. They moved to Marshfield in 1956
where he was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American
Legion. Mr. Bogumill was commander of the VFW and Veteran of the Year in 2007.
He worked as a sales representative for Silvercote Products and retired from
Johns Manville in 1994. Mr. Bogumill was a Wood County Supervisor and spent time
with his family during his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Gregg.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia, his sister Eileen Frenette of Thorp,
children, Cheryl (Jeff) Polster, Amherst, Gary (Elena) Bogumill, Cooper City,
FL, Gail (John) Wirth, Cumming GA, Vickie Handrich, Marshfield, Tammy (Jeremy)
Miller, Sun Prairie, WI; grandchildren, Amy (Antonio) King, Heather (Matt) Betz,
Patrick Polster, Michael and Brandon Bogumill, Matthew, Lucas and James Wirth,
Aaron and Dylan Handrich, Teagan and Savannah Miller; and great grandchildren,
Jasmine and Justyce Rodden-King, Janessa and Javonni King, Madison and Ryan
Betz, and Tyler Polster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, April 21, 2014 at
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield. Father Samuel Martin will
officiate. A visitation will be held Sunday, April 20, 2014 from 4 to 8 PM at
the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield and again at the church on
Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of services. Burial will follow the services
at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by the Marshfield
VFW Post 1866.
