Holt, Merton D. (31 March 1909 - 5 March 1972)

Funeral services for Merton D. Holt, 62, of Rt. 1 Neillsville, who died March 5, are to be held this (Thursday afternoon at 1:30 from Zion Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant. The Rev. Richard Eggen will officiate and burial will be made in the church cemetery. The body of Mr. Holt was in state beginning Wednesday morning at the Georgas Funeral Home.

Merton Holt, the son of William and Ethel (Colvin) Holt, was born March 31, 1909, in the Town of Weston, where he was educated and worked as a young man. His marriage to the former Hilda Krause took place June 18, 1931, in Granton. The couple farmed in the Town of Grant before retiring in the fall of 1966, when they moved to the Huckstead farm on Pleasant Ridge. Mr. Holt, who was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church, was employed by the Rollahome Corporation in Marshfield for over 15 years. He retired in 1971 because of ill health.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include five children, Harold Holt of Sheboygan, Mrs. Ronald (Carol) Boushon of Neillsville, Robert Holt of Durand, Mrs. Thomas (Joyce) Hart of Racine and Gerald Holt of White Bear Lake, Minn.; and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Albert Holt, of Neillsville.
