Genteman, Lura Orpha (1 March 1921 - 13 April 2014)
Lura Genteman, age 93, of Neillsville died Sunday, April 13, 2014, with her
family by her side at the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Lura Orpha Genteman was born March 1, 1921, in the Town of Weston, Clark County,
the daughter of Claude and Charlottie (Asplin) Mills. She attended the Christie
Country School and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1039. She was
united in marriage to William R. Genteman Aug. 10, 1939, in Waukon, IA.
Together, they farmed in the Town of York for 32 years. Later they were in
partnership with a daughter and son-in-law in the Chili IGA business. Lura then
went to work as a nurse’s assistant at the Marshfield Care Center until she
retired in 1981. She loved to play Bingo and travel. Lura was a member of the
Christ Lutheran Church in Chili.
She is survived by six children: Bonnie (Francis) Langreck of Granton, Betty
Berlick of Marshfield, Barbara (Bill) Lucas of Willard, William Genteman Jr. of
Pewaukee, Larry Genteman of Chili and Vern (Cathy) Genteman of Wisconsin Rapids;
19 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a
sister-in-law, Deloris Genteman of Marshfield.
Lura was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; five brothers; her
husband, William, in 2002; two grandchildren, Marilyn and Tom; a son-in-law,
David Berlick; two grandsons-in-law, Mike and Patrick.
Funeral Services for Lura will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at
Christ Lutheran Church in Chili. Pastor Daniel Schoessow will officiate.
Providing music will be Caroline Helm, organist. Interment will be the
Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Wednesday morning at the church.
Casketbearers will be her grandsons.
