Did you know?
In 2013, the Neillsville Library checked out over 60,000 items. Through VCAT,
Neillsville patrons received over 10,000 from other libraries and sent out over
6,800 items to other libraries for their patrons. The Neillsville Library has
four public access computers for people to use. During 2013, more that 7,000
people used the computers. Patrons can print off of the Internet for 20¢ a page.
Other services provided include proctoring exams, children’s story hour, adult
book club, presentations and income tax forms. The library also subscribes to
local newspapers including The Clark County Press, The TRG, the News Herald, The
Leader-Telegram, and The Milwaukee Journal. The Clark County Press is available
on microfilm back to the 1880s.
The Neillsville Library invites everyone to visit the library during National
Library Week to participate in the special activities offered. These include:
Monday - Kick off with “Guess the Jelly Beans in the Jar,” Prizes for winners
who guess the closest correct or the correct number will be drawn the following
week. Also, patrons may fill out a Patron Survey. Tell us what we do well and
what we can do better. Visitor feedback on library services is important.
Tuesday - Kids coloring contest for ages four to 11. Submissions will be
accepted through April 25.
Wednesday - “Reading and relaxing with Tea and Scones.” What could be better
than reading, sipping tea and enjoying a fresh baked scone? Come relax and enjoy
the quiet from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Serving only 18 years and up).
Thursday - Creative Writing contest featuring the theme “What does the Library
Mean to you?” Entries may be submitted in 200 words or less in poem or short
story format. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place.
Friday - Good Friday - Sorry the library is closed this day.
Saturday - Bringing it back to the community and beautification, plant a tree in
celebration of Library Week and the upcoming Arbor and Earth Days. A free tree
seedling will be given to each patron while supplies last.
New: E-mail monthly newsletter list sign-up. Currently in development, is the
library’s new and improved website. A monthly e-mail newsletter will be part of
it. Patrons can keep up on new book releases, NY Times bestseller list, Internet
links and more.
New: The Library needs a new slogan and logo for its new website. Bring in ideas
for a slogan along with a logo graphic design. Entries should be submitted by
April 30.
