Humbird (9 March 1972)
Mrs. Will Theiler announces the completion of the annual Heart fund campaign for
Mentor Township. A total of $165.50 has been turned over to the county
representative, Mrs. Kean Deminsky. The following people canvassed the entire
area house to house: Beatrice Lange, Marjorie Laffe, Emma Gerber, Grace Newell,
Joy Sieg, Nordahl Fristad, Darlene Huebner, Annette Van Kirk, Debbie Brandt,
Kala Fitzmaurice, Violet Hardwick and Leona Krumholz.
The W.S.C.S. will meet today (Thursday) in the church social room at 2 p.m. A
potluck lunch will be served. Some cleaning will be done.
Norman Nibbe of Hobart, Ind., spent the weekend here with his wife at the M. C.
Dignin home. Mrs. Sharon Huff of Chicago also is her with the family.
Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Sieg of Fairchild and Mrs. Laura Dignin were dinner guests
Sunday at the Bernard Sieg home.
Mrs. Rudy Aeschbacher, who had undergone surgery in the Neillsville Memorial
Hospital, came home Friday and on Monday had a check-up there.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Duerkop were dinner guests Sunday of Mrs. Emma Gerber in
honor of their wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Finnegan and Tom came last Thursday to spend until Sunday at
the home of his mother, Mrs. Arnold Matti.
Mrs. Elgie Hardwick is convalescing at home from a broken rib suffered in a fall
on the ice.
Mr and Mrs. Earl Pierce of Neillsville were here last week to call on his
sister, Mrs. Elgie Hardwick, and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Matti.
Mrs. Mildred Trachsel spent last weekend with her son, Dick Trachsel, and his
family in Rochester, Mn.
Mrs. Art Laffe underwent surgery last week in the Black River Falls hospital.
Mr and Mrs. Bernard Holman of Rockford, Il, were afternoon and supper guests
recently of Mrs. Emma Gerber.
Mrs. Elmer Duerkop and Mrs. Caroline Greub visited Friday afternoon at the home
of Mrs. Ida Holman in Osseo.
Bill Lueck of Neillsville was a supper guest Sunday at the Levi Fitzmaurice
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Trachsel and family visited Sunday evening at the home of his
mother, Mrs. Mildred Trachsel.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Morgan and Wendy of Sparta and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Morgan
and Becky of Richland Center visited Sunday at the Edwin Zimmerman and Mrs.
Maude Newton homes.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Zerbel spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Freida Zerbel.
Mrs. Leo Janke, Mrs. Iola Printz and Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot were in Neillsville
Sunday afternoon to call on the Dignins.
Among those who attended the World Day of Prayer service at the Methodist Church
in Fairchild Friday were Mrs. Iola Printz, Mrs. Laura Dignin, Mrs. Maude Newton,
Mrs. Mrs. Joy Sieg, Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot, Mrs. Emma Gerber, Mrs. Caroline Greub,
Mrs. Leona Krumholz, and Mrs. Ramona Duerkop.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Kirby were supper guests Sunday at the home of their
daughter, Mrs. Bud Walker, in rural Fairchild.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Terrell drove to Tomah Sunday to spend the afternoon and have
supper with the daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Wright.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Stuve and Nordahl Fristad were entertained at a supper in
the Mel Markham hone Friday, honoring the birthdays of Mr. Stuve and Mr. Fristad,
which are close together.
Mr. and Mrs. Kally Theiler and Mrs. Emma Theiler were Sunday afternoon visitors
at the home of Mrs. Lena Tubbs in Eau Claire.
Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot enjoyed dinner Sunday at the home of her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Janke, and then supper with Mr. and Mrs. Al Raymond.
Members of the United Methodist Church who were present Sunday morning for the
worship service drove to Fairchild to attend a dedication service in the
Methodist Church.
Rudy Aeschbacher was a supper guest Thursday at the Leland Duxbury home.
William Duxbury who is employed in Harvard, Il, did not get home last weekend
due to the stormy weather.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Huxshal of Sioux City, Ia, and Mr. Helene Nelson of Eau
Claire surprised Mrs. Maude Newton Monday evening by coming for a 7 o‘clock
dinner with her. They persuaded her to go back with them to Eau Claire, where
she was a guest at the Nelson home until Thursday.
