Tuma, Margaret "Peg" J. (Brost) (15 JAN 1928 - 19 APR 2014)

Margaret "Peg" J. Tuma, 86, Medford, died on Saturday, April 19 at her home, while under the care of her family and hospice. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 24 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:15 a.m. until the time of service.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

The former Margaret Brost was born on January 15, 1928 in Medford to the late Anton J. and Margaret Catherine (Enders) Brost. She attended Holy Rosary Grade School in Medford, was a 1946 graduate of Medford High School, and graduated from Marvel Beauty College in Milwaukee. She worked as a beautician in Milwaukee from 1947 to 1950.

On May 14, 1949 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, she married Robert Franz Tuma, who preceded her in death on March 20, 2002. They moved to Medford and from 1950 to 1973 they owned and operated Bob's Drive-In. She then worked at Marathon Cheese in Medford until her retirement.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she volunteered and was a Eucharistic minister, The Red Hatters, Friends of the Medford Library, Taylor County Historical Society, and past member of Medford Curling Club and Tee-Hi Golf Club. She enjoyed walking, golf, crafts, travel, curling, gardening, making "Pins by Peg," board games and auctions.

Survivors include five children, Margaret "Peggy" Lynn (Richard) Frey of Coyote, Minn., Gary Tuma and Brian Tuma, both of Milwaukee, Scott (Peter Ryan) Tuma of Nevada City, Calif., and Pauline (Teak Wall) Tuma of Portland, Ore.; five brothers, Lambert "Red" Brost, LeRoy Brost, Vernon Brost and Allen (Joanne) Brost, all of Medford, and Tom Brost of Abbotsford; two sisters, Arlyle Mayer of Green Bay and Marlene Dettmering of Medford; three grandchildren, Nathan (Reaca Pearl) Frey, Noel Frey and Andrea Mayer; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Werner.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Black River Industries, Hope Hospice or Our Ladies of Holy Rosary Parish, all of Medford.
