Shattuck, Dorothy E. (4 NOV 1922 - 19 APR 2014)
Dorothy E. Shattuck, age 91, of Owen, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at
the Clark County Health Care Center. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM
on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Curtiss Alliance Church. Pastor Carl Swarr will
officiate. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Town of Hixon. Family
and friends are welcome from 9:00 AM until time of service Wednesday at the
church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the
arrangements.
Dorothy was born on November 4, 1922, the daughter of Ralph and Hazel (Lott)
Vickers in Rockwell, Iowa. She attended grade school at the Pine Creek School in
Holoway and graduated from Owen High School in 1940. On November 10, 1940,
Dorothy was united in marriage to George Shattuck in Maplehurst. Together, they
farmed in the town of Longwood, moved to Rockford, IL for 9 months and then
moved back to a farm in the Town of Hoard.
On the farm, she was a hard worker and took care of the milking. Dorothy was a
very loving mom, grandma and friend. She liked to entertain and provided
wonderful meals for all her family and guests. Dorothy tended her beautiful
flower gardens was very artistic. Several of her paintings are displayed in the
area. She was a member of Curtiss Alliance Church and Eastern Star.
Dorothy is lovingly survived by her three sons: Roger (Sue) of Medford, Lynn
(Joyce) of Owen and Dale (Cindy) of Edmond, OK; 11 grandchildren and 26
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Hazel; her husband, George
on August 1, 2010 and two brothers: Lloyd and Robert Vickers.
