Miss Judith Marie Milligan and Joel Wayne Beckman, both of Madison, were married
Saturday, July 2nd at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Ed Masalewicz in St. Hedwig's Catholic
Chapel in Thorp.
The bride, daughter of Mrs. Mayme Milligan, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), was given
in marriage by her brother, Francis, to the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Beckman,
also of Thorp. White gladioli and yellow carnations were used to decorate the
altar of the church.
For her wedding the bride wore a portrait gown of silk organza and Chantilly
lace trimmed won the front of the sheath silhouette. It featured a scoop
neckline and detachable overskirt falling to a full chapel train.
Her matching headpiece of crystal which was double crown, held her veil of
imported silk illusion. Her cascade bouquet included a white orchid and white
stephanotis and ivy.
Miss Ramona Schmidt, cousin of the bride, Eau Claire, the maid of honor, and
Miss Janice Beckman, sister of the groom, Thorp, the bridesmaid, wore mint green
empire gowns featuring back panels and had pillbox headpieces with draping net
and slippers to match their ensembles. Each had a cascade of yellow carnations
with ivy.
David Beckman, brother of the groom, Chicago, was best man; Frances Milligan,
brother of the bride, Thorp, the groomsman; and Robert Herman, Thorp and Robert
May, Kenosha, ushered. The attendants, as well as the groom, wore grey striped
trousers, charcoal grey jackets and grey vests. A stephanotis boutonniere for
the attendants completed their attire.
The bride's mother viewed her daughter's wedding in a three piece parchment suit
with matching accessories, a deep rose hat and a baby orchid corsage. The
groom's mother wore a pink silk suit with beige accessories and a baby orchid
corsage.
The reception took place in the parish hall at Thorp. Following a northern
Wisconsin honeymoon, the Beckman's went to Madison where their address is 1012
E. Gorham St.
Mrs. Beckman is a 1963 graduate of Thorp High School and a 1964 graduate of
Patricia Stevens College in Milwaukee. She works in the data processing
department for the registrar at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Her husband, slso a 1963 graduate of Thorp High School, is a senior at the
University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he is majoring in mining engineering.
