Boylan, James (Navy Flight - 5 JUL 1966)
James Boylan, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), participated in a gwo day field trip to
the U.S. Naval Aviation Technical Training Center at Memphis, Tenn., as part of
a summer workshop in aerospace at WSU - Stevens Point on Tuesday afternoon, July
5, 1966, in a U.S. Navy C-54. While in Memphis they visited the Naval Aviation
Technical Training School, the Navy weather office, and the aviation control
tower.
Another of the highlights of the trip was an evening cruise up the Mississippi
river on the "Memphis Queen" excursion stern wheeler. The group returned to
Stevens Point Thursday afternoon, July 7.
The eight week aerospace workshop is conducted by WSU to provide teachers at
various grade levels with aerospace information and application of science
fundamentals for teaching aerospace experience are included, and materials are
tested with children working at several levels in the WSU Campus laboratory
school.
