Sischo, Alice (28 December 1926 - 17 April 2014)
Alice Sischo, 87, of Neillsville died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at St, Joseph’s
Hospital in Marshfield.
Alice was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Pine Valley Township, Clark County, the
daughter of John and Elizabeth (Glassow) Strangfeld. She attended and graduated
from Neillsville High School 1944 and was united in marriage to DeVere “Pete”
Sischo Nov. 4, 1945. They farmed north of Neillsville from 1949 until 1982 when
“Pete” died. In 1984, Alice began working for the Department of Aging, where she
assisted with the Meals-on-Wheels program for the elderly at home and at the
Neillsville Senior Center.
She was a member of the Pine Valley Zion Lutheran Church in Neillsville. She
took pleasure in gardening and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed sewing and
was an excellent seamstress. Alice was a hard-working woman who taught her
family the value of an education. She loved her grandchildren and attending
their sporting events.
She is survived by five children, Terry (Elsie) Sischo of Neillsville, Dennis
(Mary-Jo) Sischo of Neillsville, Vicki (Allen) Sischo-Steffen of Greenwood,
Janis (Chris) Smith of Greenwood and Judy (Brad) Lindner of Neillsville; 13
grandchildren, Heidi (Ben), Jamie (Tori), Joel (Megan), Aaron (Cheryl), Lacey
(Steve), Chad (Heather), Luke (Lauren), Phillip (Kassie), Adam, Jessica (Jason),
Jodi (Mike), Jared and Jennifer; eight great-grandchildren, Brady, Drew, Aiden,
Zoe, Mason, Peter, Addisyn and Connor; one sister, Elaine Quast of Sparta, and
one brother, Herman (Jackie) Strangfeld of Neillsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother-in-law,
Robert Quast.
A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Gesche
Funeral Home in Neillsville. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
Interment will be in the North Valley Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Alice’s family who will be
establishing a scholarship fund in Alice’s memory.
