Sniegowski, Stanley James (1 May 1951 - 14 April 2014)

Stanley J. “Stan” Sniegowski, age 62, of Holcombe, WI, formerly of Thorp, WI and Calumet City, IL, passed away at his home on Monday, April 14, 2014. A celebration of Life was held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Thorp Funeral Home, in Thorp, WI, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Stanley James Sniegowski was born on May 1, 1951, in Evergreen Park, IL, the son of Kasimer and Bernice (Undziakiewicz) Sniegowski. He was raised and received his education in the Chicago area, graduating from Mendel Catholic High School in Roseland, IL. After completing his education, Stan moved to Thorp, WI, where he worked as an auto mechanic at Hofkes Chevrolet. He was united in marriage to Sharon L. Racine on January 21, 1973, at Our Lady of Knock Catholic Church in Calumet City, IL. He then purchased a Phillips 66 gas station in Thorp and later owned and operated Stan’s Auto Repair. In 1979, Stan moved back to Calumet City, IL, where he owned the Homewood Texaco Station for 10 years. He later founded S & S Construction, doing residential building and remodeling. He then moved to Green Lake, WI in 1996 before returning to Holcombe, WI in 2006.

Stan was a handy man of all sorts and could virtually do anything that he set his mind to, whether it was carpentry, plumbing, electrical or mechanical. He was extremely proud of his children and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry, of Ripon, WI; his children: Jeffrey (Heidi) Sniegowski of Berlin, WI and Jennifer (Andy) Saloun of Portage, WI; four grandchildren: Johanna (Travis) Schumacher, Kalen Sniegowski, Jeremy Saloun and Ally Saloun; three sisters: Lorraine DeVries of South Holland, IL, Deborah Sniegowski of South Holland, IL, Cheryl (Bob) Sliga of Frankfurt, IL; and his very special nephew: Louis (Dorene) Germain of Hudson, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Charlene Braun.
