Horounziak, Walter D. (23 April 1942 - 20 April 2014)

Walter D. Horounziak, age 71, of Stanley, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Oakbrook Health 7 Rehab Center, Thorp.

Walter was born April 23, 1942, in Thorp, to the late Walter and Mary (Pletka) Horounziak. Walter grew up in the Mitterhoffer area near Thorp and attended area schools. Walter married Diane Walters on November 23, 1963, in South Milwaukee. He worked for St. Regis Paper Mill, the Merit Corp., and Miller and Company as a maintenance mechanic and lastly for Easy Painter Company before retirement. The couple moved north of Stanley a year and a half ago. Walter enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane, of Stanley; five children: Sandra Horounziak of Milwaukee, Walter, Jr., Jody and Thomas Horounziak, all of Cudahy, and Steve (Nikki) Horounziak of West Allis; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sister: Sara (Irvin) Boardman of Lenoir, NC, and Irene (Richard) Dachelet of Neenah; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Josephine Mendalski, and Mary Auman; and one brother, David Horounziak.

Services will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014, at the Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley. Visitation will be from 1 until 5 p.m. Friday.
