Funeral services were held for Mrs. Agnes Handt on Saturday, age 82, at the Zion
American Lutheran Church, town of Grant, with the Rev. Rev. Evan Dieck
officiating. The Gilbertson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
The soloist, Martin Hilbert sang “Abide With Me” and “Softly and Tenderly,”
accompanied by Rose Ann Rose at the organ.
Pallbearers were Harold Schlinsog, Everett and John Handt, Victor and Edward
Porath and Wilbert Wischuelke.
The former Agnes Porath was born September 18, 1882 in Waukesha County and at an
early age came with her parents to Neillsville and several years later the
family moved to a farm in the town of Lynn. Her marriage toWilliamHandt, who
preceded her in death June 26, 1953, took place May 26, 1907 at St. Paul,
Minnesota.
The couple lived in Beloit for 40 years and since 1959 Mrs. Handt had made her
home in Stoughton. She passed away early Thursdaymorning morning at the
Stoughton Hospital after an illness since last November.
Mrs. Handt was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at Beloit.
Survivors are a son Luther, Chicago, Illinois; a sister, Mrs. Lyle (Norma) Fero,
Granton; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
