Zawadzki, Joanne (15 APR 1916 - 14 AUG 1966)
Mrs. Walter Zawadzki, 50, ded Sunday, Aug. 14, 1966, at St. Joseph's Hospital,
Marshfield, after a three week illness.
The former Joanne Pogodzinski was born April 15, 1916 at Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis.
On July 11, 1934 she was united in marriage to Walter Zawadzki at St. Hedwig's
Church, Thorp, and resided on rural route Withee since her marriage. The
deceased was president of the Rosary Society of her church and a member of the
Clark-Jackson deanery.
Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Thorp, at ten a.m.
Friday, Aug. 19th. Officiating at the Solemn Requiem High Mass was the Rev.
Lawrence Zawadzki, assisted by Rev. Edward Masalewicz, as Deacon, sub-deacon
Rev. Francis Piekarski, Stevens Point. Master of Ceremonies was the Rev. Joseph
Rafacz, La Crosse, Wis., and delivering the sermon was the Rev. Edward
Masalewicz. Burial was in the church cemetery with graveside rites by Frederick
W. Freking, Bishop of La Crosse.
Rosary was held at 8:00 p.m., Scripture Service at 8:30 p.m.
Pallbearers were neighbors of Mrs. Zawadzki's: Leo Stewart, Henry Balicki, Frank
Wilczek, John Lobacz, Ray Psznieczny, and Bruno Jarocki Sr.
Surviving are her husband Walter Zawadzki, four sons, Dr. Joseph Zawadzki,
Skokie, Ill., (Senior Research Chemist, G.D. Searle and Company, Skokie, Ill,),
Father Lawrence Zawadzki, assistant pastor of St. Michael's Parish, Wausau,
Wis., Lt. David Zawadzki, Loren Transmitting Station, Cape Athol, Greenland
(Commanding Officer), Gabriel Zawadzki, San Juanillo, Costa Rica (Peace Corp
Volunteer); one daughter, Dorothy Zawadzki, Alverno College, Milwaukee (Student
Nurse); three brothers, Bernard Pogodzinski, Marshfield, Albert Pogodzinski,
Greenwood, Leon Pogodzinski, Lublin; seven sisters, Mrs. Anna Smaller of Racine,
Mrs. Frank Bandach of Thorp, Mrs. Frances Platt of Thorp, Mrs. Alfred Frank of
Spencer, Mrs. John Zawadzki of Owen, Mrs. Audrey Morgan of McHenry, Ill., and
Mrs. Frank Swiontek of Stanley.
