Churkey, William B. (2 OCT 1920 - 23 APR 2014)
William B. Churkey Sr., age 93, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 23, 2014
at his home in Marshfield with his family by his side. Funeral Services will be
held 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010
E. Veterans Parkway) in Marshfield. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until
8:00 PM Monday, April 28, 2014 at the funeral home and again from 9:00 AM until
service time at the funeral home on Tuesday.
William was born October 2, 1920 the son of Charles and Jennie Churkey in Owen,
WI. William graduated from Greenwood High School. He proudly served his country
in the US Army during WWII. On April 9, 1949 William was united in marriage to
Georgette M. Holstein.
Mr. Churkey was a mechanic and service person for various places (Jack of all
trades) . There was nothing he couldn't fix. He was a member of the American
Legion Post 54 in Marshfield. He enjoyed fishing, his dogs, as well as watching
birds and wildlife. He especially enjoyed spending time with is family and
observing his grandson's and son's concrete business.
William is lovingly survived by his children: Francine (Albert) Kadrlik, William
(Kathy) Churkey, Marie (Terry) Pankratz, and Gary Churkey. He is further
survived by 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 5 great
great-grandchildren; as well as 1 great-great-great grandchild. He will truly be
missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Jennie; wife: Georgette;
siblings: Marvin "Jim", Charles "Don", David, Loretta and Gladys; as well as a
granddaughter: Chrissy.
Those wishing to express their sympathies are encouraged to do so in Mr.
Churkey's name to the family. A memorial will be established at a later date.
