Kotcon, Victor (5 MAR 1929 - 10 OCT 1966)
Victor Kotcon, 37 years old farmer and father of three children, was killed
Monday night in a one vehicle accident about 11 miles southeast of Thorp (Clark
Co., Wis.) on a town of Hendren road.
According to county officials, Kotcon was traveling north when the pick-up truck
he was driving apparently went out of control. It veered to the left side of the
road and into the left ditch, where it traveled 99 feet, then back onto the
highway and into the ditch again.
Kotcon was thrown from the vehicle and pinned under the left rear wheel when the
truck came to a rest.
Coroner Robert Lulloff said death was due to crushing chest injuries and that
Kotcon apparently died almost instantly following the accident.
The accident is believed to have occurred about 7:15 p.m., but was not
discovered until before 10 p.m., when a passing motorist came on the scene.
Investigating officers learned that the latch on the left door did not catch.
Kotcon's body was taken to the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood.
Survivors include his wife Betty, a son Michael, and two daughters, Roberta and
Lynn.
The death was number 13 on Clark County roads this year, one more than in all of
last year.
Officers Dale Schultz and Richard Niemi, Sheriff David Bertz, Dist. Attorney,
William Schorr, and Coroner Lulloff conducted the investigation.
Services for Mr. Kotcon will be conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Hill Funeral
Home in Greenwood, and at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in
Willard. The Rev. William Nikolai will officiate, and burial will be made in the
Holy Family Cemetery.
The body will repose at the funeral home from Wednesday evening until the time
of services. A general rosary service will be conducted there at 8 p.m.
Wednesday.
Mr. Kotcon was born March 5, 1929 at Willard, the son of Mike and Mary Kotcon.
His marriage to Betty Luzovec took place at Willard and since then they had
farmed in the town of Mead.
In addition to his wife, survivors are three children, Michael, 14; Lyn, 8; and
Roberta, 7; a brother Felix Kotcon, Neillsville; four sisters, Mrs. Joe
(Bernice) Boh, Neillsville; Mrs. Mary Farenzena, Highwood, Ill.; Mrs. Tony
(Frances) Copack, Chicago; and Mrs. Edward (Helen) Gregorich, Lyons, Ill.
