Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Brux, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), have received word from
the Secretary of the Army that their son, Capt. Gary H. Brux, 28, died Oct. 6,
1966 while serving with the U.S. military forces in Viet Nam.
The telegram stated that Capt. Brux died as the result of wounds received while
in a defensive position, when hit by fragments from hostile mortar rounds. He
had been in Viet Nam since Jan. 13, 1966.
Born at Amery, Wis. on April 5, 1938, Gary Brux came with his parents to
Greenwood in May 1946. He attended St. Mary's catholic School and was a graduate
of the Greenwood High School with the class of 1956, and St. Norbert's College,
De Pere in 1960. While in college he took R.O.T.C. training and at graduation
received the "distinguished military grade."
