Malinowski, Velma J. (27 AUG 1966)
Baskets of yellow and white gladiolas with miniature mums decorated the First
Presbyterian Church of Stanley for the wedding of Velma Jane Malinowski and
Kenneth Louis Kiraly on Aug. 27, 1966 at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. E.O. Dirks of
Chippewa Falls performed the double ring ceremony. Mrs. C.M. Taft provided the
organ music and Miss Elaine Ritter sang "Song of Ruth" and "The Wedding Prayer."
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Emory Starks, route 2, Thorp (Clark Co.,
Wis.), and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kiraly, Stanley.
For her wedding the bride wore a floor length bridal gown of sheer organza in
white over mint green taffeta, fashioned with long tapered sleeves and a Sabrina
neckline. Chantilly lace adorned the bouffant skirt and the detachable double
wattea sweeping to chapel length. Her sheer veil was secured to a crown of
crystal flowers. She carried a cascade bouquet of pink roses accented with green
ivy.
Miss Ruby Starks, Wausau, was her sister's maid of honor, and Miss Judith
Potocnik, Owen, friend of the bride, was bridesmaid. Their dresses, made by the
bride, were of white over mint green bonded lace, featuring sleeveless fitted
bodice with round neckline, and bell shaped skirts sweeping to floor length.
Sheer nylon braid of mint green fashioned tiny bells on a flat bow held the
veils of the bridesmaids and maid of honor. They carried cluster bouquets of
yellow and white mums.
Garry Ellis, Genesco, Ill., friend of the groom, was best man, and John Coyle,
Chicago, Ill., also friend of the groom, was the groomsman. Ushers were George
Starks and Eugene Budzinski.
A reception for 70 guests was held at the Thorp Finance Dining Hall following
the ceremony. Marion Poppe, friend of the bride, was in charge of the guest
book. Geraldine Dudansky and Mrs. George Starks cut the heart shaped wedding
cake, which was served by Miss Sharon Phillipi and Miss Elaine Ritter. A dance
in the evening was held at the American Legion Hall in Thorp. Music was
furnished by Kodl's Orchestra.
Friends and relatives present at the wedding were from Stanley, Thorp, Boyd,
Chippewa Falls, Augusta, Owen, Gilman, Wausau, Stevens Point, Vesper and Arpin,
Wis., Chicago, Rockford, Broadview and Genesco, Ill., and Eagle Grove, Iowa.
They both are graduates of the Stanley-Boyd High School. The bride has been
employed by Thorp Finance Corp. and the groom is employed at the H.K. Porter Co.
of Chicago, Ill.
After a trip to the Badlands and Black Hills of South Dakota, the couple is
making their home in Chicago, Ill.
