Badzinski, Mr./Mrs. Walter M. (60th - 29 OCT 1966)

Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. Badzinski of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), who were married Oct. 29, 1906 in St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Roseau, Minn., marked the 60th anniversary of their marriage on Saturday, Oct. 29, 1966 at a celebration held in the American Legion Hall at Thorp. The Rev. Anton Drewnicki, Leo, Minn., officiated at the 1906 nuptial rites.

At 10 a.m. in St. Hedwig's Chapel in Thorp, the Rev. Edward Masalewicz celebrated an anniversary mass of thanksgiving, with St. Hedwig's Senior Choir singing Polish hymns.

The dinner was served by the Ladies Auxiliary to the couple, their 12 children with the spouses, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also Mr. and Mrs. Harold Goodrich, Minneapolis, Minn., brother-in-law and sister of Mrs. Badzinski, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kubera, Augusta, and Mrs. And Mrs. Andrew Kubera, Thorp, her brothers and sisters-in-law. Priest attending were Father Masalewicz and the Rev. Roy Mish of St. Hedwig's parish.

Table decorations included a bouquet of 12 red long stemmed roses, a gift of the 12 in-laws and a decorated anniversary cake. There also were potted chrysanthemums from the David Kraemer children of Marshfield. Mrs. Badzinski had a corsage of white chrysanthemums and red roses and her husband had a white chrysanthemum centered with a red rosebud for his boutonniere. Special gifts included silver to Mr. Badzinski from the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a crystal rosary to Mrs. Badzinski from the grandchildren.

Mr. Badzinski, son of John and Apalonia Badzinski, was born in German Poland at Izabella on Sept. 9, 1881, attending school there for seven years. He also attended a locksmith school for three years. He served in the 14th infantry of the German army for 25 months.

Mrs. Badzinski, the former Myrtle Kubera, was born in Poland Dec.29, 1887, to Michael and Josephine Kubera. She was educated in the town of Reseburg, living in Wisconsin and Minnesota before she married. Following their marriage, the couple homesteaded in Kit Karson County, Colorado, farming for five years. They then farmed in the towns of Withee and Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.) for 30 years. In 1941 he retired.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Badzinski, who are in fair health, are Catholics. He served School Board District 3 in the town of Reseburg for four years and as supervisor for of Reseburg township three years. His hobbies are hunting and fishing and his wife enjoys sewing.

The 12 children of the Badzinski's are Louis, Thorp; John, Thorp; Mrs. Michael (Josephine) Strzok, Gilman; George, Bayfield; Mrs. Walter (Apalonia) Szczech, Greenwood; Harry, Thorp; Alex, Thorp; Joseph, Colby; Mrs. Stanley (Gertrude) Stasczuk, Eau Claire; Albert Enid, Okla.; Mrs. David (Elizabeth) Kraemer, Marshfield; and Mrs. Edmund (Valentina) Krych, Minneapolis, Minn. There are 56 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. All of the children with their spouse and their families, including the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were present with the exception of grandchildren in the armed services, Richard Strzok in Hawaii, Peter Strzok in Iran, John Badzinski, Jr. in Colorado, Michael Strzok Jr. in Connecticut, Ronald Stasczuk in Texas, James Strzok in Missouri and Dennis Badzinski in Florida.

Relatives attending from out of town came from St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minn., Enid, Okla, and from Milwaukee, Wautoma, Waupaca, Marsfhield, Colby, Gilman, Eau Claire, Bayfield, Greenwood, Barron and Berlin.

The original attending couple, John Kubera and Maggie Quada, were unable to attend due to illness.
