Flynn, Michael W. “Mike” (7 August 1948 - 8 February 2014)
Michael “Mike” Flynn, 65, of Waseca, MN, died suddenly Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014,
at his home.
Michael was born Aug. 7, 1948, in New Hampton, IA, to John Alvin and Gladys
Irene (Hamm) Flynn. He grew up in Neillsville and attended school there.
Music was an integral part of Michael’s life. He learned to play guitar at a
young age and made a life-long career of writing music and performing. Being a
member of over 100 bands, he thoroughly enjoyed entertaining. Michael loved the
outdoors, especially when the sun was shining, and could often be found with a
good cup of coffee sitting on the back patio. He also enjoyed the company of
family and friends, had a wonderful sense of humor, and appreciated good
conversation. Other interests include reading, woodworking, philosophy, writing
poetry, watching historical documentaries and science fiction movies, and
gardening.
He is survived by his children: Sean Flynn of Richfield, MN, Riley Flynn and
special friend Brittany Manor, Patrick Flynn and Katherine Flynn, all of
Owatonna; grandchildren, Kaitlin Flynn, Eric Flynn and Mila Flynn; and brother,
John (Joanne) Flynn of Sturgeon Lake, MN. He is also survived by his significant
other, Diane Hansen of Waseca, and her children, Rachel (Michael)Schmidt, Dillon
Hansen and Tami Sorenson, Christopher Hansen, Carter Hansen and Coral Westling;
her grandchildren, Allison, Amanda and Sydney Schmidt, and Kadynce Hansen;
nieces, nephews, other relatives, and by his good neighbors and other close
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Flynn.
Michael will be greatly missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing him.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the
Neillsville City Cemetery (Ash & East 15th Street) in Neillsville. A celebration
of Michael’s live will follow at the Tuft’s Mansion (26 Hewett Street) in
Neillsville.
