Trunkel, Elizabeth A. “Betty” (3 March 1936 - 8 June 2014)
Betty Trunkel, 78, of Neillsville died Sunday, June 8, 2014, at her residence.
Elizabeth Ann Trogner was born March 3, 1936, in Neillsville, the daughter of
John and Edith (Seelow) Trogner. She graduated from Neillsville High School in
1954 and then was united in marriage to Nicholas Sydorowicz. They lived in
Milwaukee until Nicholas was killed in a car accident in 1969. Betty and her
four children then moved to Neillsville to be near family. She worked at the
Shopper for a short time as a proofreader. She married Ed Rice and then owned
and operated an appliance store, Laundromat, Mode-O-Day clothing store, and they
purchased the old hospital on Fourth Street and turned it into an apartment
complex. They later divorced. In 1981, Betty married John Trunkel and worked as
a cashier at the IGA, did home daycare and sold Avon. She was a member of St.
Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed reading.
She is survived by her children, Steven (Tracy) Sydorowicz of Milwaukee, Mark (Nicki)
Sydorowicz of Neillsville, Donna Sydorowicz of Neillsville, Chris (Eric) Koula
of Neillsville, Joe Trunkel of Neillsville, Ron (Barb) Trunkel of Neillsville
and Jim (Tammy) Trunkel of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Dustin, Mitch Mindy, Nic,
Alex, Allison, Mallori, Jonathan, Emily, Dexter, Hadley, Crystal, Amber, Cain,
McKenzie, Amelia, Braden and Sarah; three great-grandchildren, Carter, Grace and
Gabriella; a brother, John (Darlene) Trogner of Stoughton; and a sister, Jean
Kuhn, of Neillsville.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Betty will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June
13, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. The celebrant will be
Rev. Varkey V. Joseph. Music will be provided by Ronald Resong, organist, and
St. Mary’s Adult Choir. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic
Church.
Casketbearers are: Nicholas Sydorowicz, Alex Sydorowicz and Dexter Koula.
