Funeral Services for Miss Anne Gridel, 74, of Abbotsford, who died at 7 a.m. Sunday, Feb 6, at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, were held Wednesday morning at St. Bernard’s Catholic church.  The Rev. Raymond B. Schulz officiated at a mass of requiem at 10 o’clock after which interment was made in the Dorchester Memorial cemetery.

The pallbearers were Frank Schopper, Joseph Helfert, Francis Steinwand, William Jantsch, Earl Butler and Art Frane.

A general rosary service was held Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford, where the body lay in state.

Anne Gridel was born Jan. 13, 1892, at Dorchester, and received her education in the Dorchester schools and the Phillips Teachers’ Training School at Phillips.

She taught school at Corinth, Milwaukee and Chippewa Falls and then went into nurses’ training and was graduated from Trinity Hospital in Milwaukee.  She was employed as a surgical supervisor in Rockford, Ill., and for 25 years was a public health nurse in Rockford.  The past four years she lived in Abbotsford.

Miss Gridel was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic church and of St. Bernard’s Alter Society.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Arnold (Caroline) Steinwand of Colby and Miss Lucille Gridel and Mrs. Marie Petrich, and one brother, Walter Gridel, all of Abbotsford.

One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.
