Harmening, Wilfred (2 September 1899 - 17 July 1972)
Funeral services for Wilfred Harmening, 72, of Willard, who died Monday in
Neillsville are to be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. from the Hill Funeral Home
in Greenwood. The Rev. William Humlie of Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal, will
officiate and burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Harmening was born September 2, 1899, in the Town of Berry in Dane County
where he grew to manhood. He was employed at the Truck Union Transfer Company in
Madison for 47 years and retired because of failing health. His marriage to the
former Hazel Holcomb took place March 17, 1951, at La Crosse. The Harmenings
lived in the Rock Dam area for approximately the last seven years.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Mrs. Dan (Shirley) Badia
of Northport, N. Y.; a son, Steven Harmening of Hiawatha, Ia.; two sisters, Mrs.
Leola Henning and Mrs. Eleanor Britt of Madison; and 11 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Fred Dass, Gordon Wolf, Tony Petkovsek, Emil Podobnik, Robert
Hass, and Martin Kalsow.
