Synol, Donovan P. "Spook" (17 MAR 1948 - 9 JUN 2014)

Donovan "Spook" P. Synol, 66, town of Browning, died on Monday, June 9 at his home, under the care of his family. No services will be held. A private graveside interment service will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Medford VFW Club, with military honors performed by Klossner-Dietzler VFW Post No. 5729 at 3 p.m.
Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

Donovan Synol was born on March 17, 1948 in Medford to the late Walter John and Bernice (Bertagnoli) Synol. He attended Clearview Elementary School in Rib Lake, Rib Lake High School and auto body school. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from 1968 to 1969 during the Vietnam War.

On July 3, 1971 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford, he married Dorothy "Jo" Jauernig, who survives. He worked at K&W Body Shop in Medford, KB Body Shop in Merrill, then at Feddick Ford in Abbotsford until his retirement.

He was a member of Landau-Jensen American Legion Post No. 147 and Klossner-Dietzler VFW Post No. 5729, both of Medford. He enjoyed NASCAR races, golf, bowling, tinkering with cars, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two children, Dana (Buck) Smith of Medford and Dani (Tyler) Bergeson of Wausau; two brothers, Richard "Dick" Synol of Shawano and Raymond "Ray" (Kathleen) Synol of Medford; four granddaughters, Kendra, Brooke and Myah Smith, and Madisyn Bergeson; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Derek Synol in 1986 and a brother, Kenneth Synol in 1968.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to his family to be designated at a later date.
