Brown, Lucille Patricia (23 MAR 1957 - 31 MAY 2014)
Lucille Patricia Brown, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 31 in
Madison.
The youngest of four girls, she was born on March 23, 1957 in Galesburg, Ill.
She graduated from St. Bede's Academy in Eau Claire in 1975 and then attended
the University of Minnesota.
Besides Wisconsin, she lived many years in Minneapolis, Minn., and brief periods
in Texas, California, Wyoming and Ireland. Lucy worked various jobs over the
years, most recently for eight years at the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.
A sensitive, creative free spirit, Lucy embraced the peace of nature and
animals. She was active in the Circle Sanctuary many years and also was a
political activist. An adventurer who loved to travel, she was an active
participant in Renaissance festivals, and was also a voracious reader.
She was a caring person with a generous, giving heart, often saying, "Blessings
on you."
Lucy is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Nelson of Madison, and her cat,
Thomas. She is also survived by her sisters, Kristine (Robert) Werner of
Medford, Diane Brown (Michael Klitzke) of Madison, Julia (Knight) Blank of
Kansas City; her step-mother, Pat Brown of Ponce Inlet, Fla.; nieces and
nephews, Katrien Werner of Madison, Daniel Werner of Brazil, Loren Watson of
Milwaukee and Jennifer Blank of Kansas City; and cousins, uncles and an aunt in
Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Brown.
A family memorial service will be held on July 5 followed by an open celebration
of life at 3:30 at her sister's home at 1826 Windom Way in Madison. Lucy will be
deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
