Joyce, Wilbur T. (1 MAR 1922 - 21 JUN 2014)

Wilbur T. Joyce, age 92, of Marshfield, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 30, 2014 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield. Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Neillsville City Cemetery with military honors presented by American Legion Post 73

Wilbur was born March 1, 1922 to Vera (Holt) and William Joyce Sr. at Greenwood. He received his education at Forman School. Wilbur proudly served his country in the Army during World War II, being honorably discharged in 1946. During his time in the service he discovered his passion for flying, a hobby which continued even upon his return home. Wilbur and Lucille Mueller were united in marriage October 10, 1945 in Neillsville. He worked at Roddis Lumber and Veneer Co. for many years. The couple also farmed in the Town of York before moving to Loyal in 1967 where they owned and operated a service station. Later they moved to Marshfield where Wilbur drove school bus for Marshfield Bus Service until his retirement in 2008. Wilbur enjoyed hunting and his time "up north" in Hayward. He was very mechanical. If he could not fix it, he could make it.

Wilbur is survived by his children: Beverly (Richard) Schmidt of Neillsville, Michael Joyce of Marshfield, and Diane (Randy) Kanneberg of Marshfield; his grandchildren: Troy (Dana) Kanneberg and Lisa (Duane) Blanchard of Marshfield, Cindy (Randy) Munns of Appleton, Mark (Nikki) Schmidt and Ryan (Tara Strey) Schmidt of Neillsville, Tina Coletta of Woodbury, MN, and Kim (Lanny Collins) Coyle of Pittsville. Wilbur is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and a brother, Walter Joyce, of Dayton, OH.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his wife Lucille in 2006. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Kurt Kanneberg, his sister, Alice Petersen, his brother, William Joyce Jr., and a daughter-in-law Kathy Joyce.
