Meyer, Carole J. (6 March 1939 - 16 June 2014)

Carole J. Meyer, 75, was lifted to Heaven by Angels June 16, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer; peace has been granted by Carole’s Savior, Jesus Christ.

Carole was born March 6, 1939, to Lawrence and Inez Stroot in Wabasha, MN. Carole lived her youth in Wabasha, MN, where she graduated from St. Felix High School in 1957. After graduation, Carole moved to Eau Claire with her parents. Carole graduated from the School of Cosmetology in Eau Clare and worked as a beautician.

Carole married Gerald Meyer Aug. 24, 1963. They lived in Grand Forks, ND, where Gerald was stationed in the U.S. Air force. Carole and Gerald returned to Eau Claire to start their family. Carole loved singing in the church choir and serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Olaf’s Church. Carole was creative in all her talents, which included counted cross-stitch and card making. Carole enjoyed playing cards with her friends, lunch dates with shopping and creating memories with her children, grand children and great-grandson.

Carole is survived by her six children, Tony (Cindy) Meyer, Theresa (Curt) Wegerer, Daniel (Trisha) Meyer, Michael (Jennifer) Meyer, Mary Jo (Brian Spindler) Meyer and Barbara Ann (Jamie) Kuhn; siblings, Robert Stroot, Eugene Stroot, Donald Stroot, Margie Stroot and Patricia (Raymond) King; 11 grandchildren, Benjamin Meyer, Peter Meyer, William Kolve Jr., Caleb Meyer, Emily (Jake) Canfield, Waylon Kolve, Nolan Meyer, Nicholas Kuhn, Samantha Kuhn, Jessica Kuhn and Bhrittany Meyer; one great-grandson, Jasen John Canfield. Carole is further survived by many nieces and nephews and god-children.

Carole will be joining, in Heaven, Her husband, Gerald; parents, Lawrence and Inez Stroot; three brothers; two sisters; five brothers-in-law; and four sisters-in-law.

Carole’s memory will make many smiles for years to come.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday June 20, 2014, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe St. in Eau Claire, with Father Brian Konopa officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue in Eau Claire, and one hour prior to the Mass Friday at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
