Niznik, Nancy J. (Bower) (26 OCT 1944 - 19 JUN 2014)

Former Medford area resident Nancy J. Niznik, 69, Holcombe, died on Thursday, June 19 at her home, with her family by her side. Per her request, no services will be held.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford.

The former Nancy Bower was born on October 26, 1944 in Longwood, to the late Albert C. and Alice I. (Cleveland) Bower. She was a 1963 graduate of Owen-Withee High School.

On October 19, 1963 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin, she married Paul E. Niznik Jr. of Holcombe, who survives. They settled in the Stetsonville area in 1969 where they resided until 2009. She was employed with Phillips Plastics in Medford for more than 30 years. After retirement, Nancy and Paul moved to their home on Lake Holcombe.

Nancy's boundless love for her family encompassed her life. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She very much enjoyed visiting with friends, other family members and neighbors as well. Nancy was an avid reader, and put priority on keeping up to date on current events and local community news. During retirement she took pleasure in working in her yard on landscaping and her flower gardens. She's left many great memories for those who knew her, including the hostas and lilies from her gardens, which she shared with others. Throughout her years, Nancy also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's school and sporting events, cooking for her family and hosting gatherings.

In addition to her husband, survivors include three children, Alice Denzine of Dorchester, and Paul A. (Kriste) Niznik and Danelle (Jeff) Hraby, both of Medford; six siblings, Eileen (August) Schreiber of Flambeau, Allen (Carol) Bower of Rock Dam, Dale (Kris) Bower of Holcombe, Galen (April) Bower of Big Bend, Duane (Mary) Bower of Watertown and Diane (Mike) Sydow of Plymouth; eight grandchildren, Kole, Konnor and Kwinton Denzine of Dorchester, Brittany Niznik of Eau Claire, Brianna Niznik of Medford, and Kordell and Korissa Hraby of Medford; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Niznik of Eau Claire; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Ronald and Sharon Bower, both in infancy, and a nephew, John Bower.
