Shewczyk, Judith Ann "Gee" (Premeau) (19 SEP 1916 - 28 JUN 2014)
Judith Ann "Gee" Shewczyk, age 73, of Lublin, passed away peacefully at home on
Saturday, June 28, 2014, with her godson by her side.
Judy was born on September 19, 1940 to Clarence and Marie (Fenno) Premeau in
Westboro, and was united in marriage to John Shewczyk in Huron on June 3, 1957.
Judy and Johnny farmed together in Lublin, town of Roosevelt, for over 30 years.
Judy received a nursing assistant degree on July 12, 1965. Judy received her
high school diploma from the American School based in Chicago, Ill., on August
3, 1967. Her life's passion for education was started on June 6, 1969 when she
graduated from Taylor County Teachers College in Medford. On May 13, 1973, she
received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Mount Scenario College,
Ladysmith. Judy was recognized throughout the years as an outstanding educator
and was named to the Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
Judy taught elementary school in Lublin, Hannibal and then Gilman for a total of
32 years, retiring in 2001. Judy was an active 4-H counselor for over 25 years
and enjoyed the Taylor County Fair competitions.
Judy was an educator and mentor to many with a special interest in Wisconsin
history. Judy was a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend to all who came into
her house. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, knitting, embroidery, crocheting,
listening to polka music, and "going for a ride" with her friends, neighbors and
family to Black River Falls to play the Hot Shot slot machines.
Aside from her parents, preceding her in death was the love of her life, her
husband Johnny, in 1990. Also preceding her in death were a brother, Clarence
Premeau Jr., and a sister, Jo Ann Premeau.
Survivors include her sister, Barbara (Ray) Pawlak of Thorp; brother, Randy
Premeau of Conover; brother, James Premeau of Kenosha; godchildren, Chad (Jo
Ann) Pawlak of Greenwood and Nannette (Joel) Ganotisi of Honolulu, Hawaii;
numerous nieces and nephews (including greats and great-greats); and many
extended famly.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Hope
Hospice for their help during this difficult time, and to special family friend,
Penny Pattee of Thorp for the kind and loving care provided to Gee during the
last few months.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church in Lublin on
Saturday, July 5 at 2 p.m., with Revered Ted Wojcik officiating. Burial will
take place in the church cemetery immediately following the service.
