Funeral services were held Monday at Owen for James Lyman Colby, 74, a former Unity resident. Mr. Colby died March 24 at this home in Owen. The Rev. Carl Booher, pastor of the Greenwood Methodist church, officiated. Burial was in the Brighton cemetery.
James Colby was born June 13, 1891, at Unity. His marriage to Emma Stevens, who died in 1956, took place July 10, 1912, at Victoria, Mich. Following their marriage the couple farmed in the town of Unity until 1942 when they moved to Owen. Mr. Colby then worked for the Master Package Corp. at Owen until his retirement. He was a member of the Owen Methodist church and the Oddfellows lodge at Unity.
Surviving are a son Richard, Milwaukee; a daughter, Mrs. Felix (Rhea) Dietsche, Owen; two brothers, George of Kenosha and Frank of Muskego, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Loney, Mt. Hope.
His wife and one son preceded him
in death.
