Bio: Hutter, Leo A. (1892 - 1968)
Leo A. Hutter owned a cheese Factory located in Pelsdorf, Loyal Twp., Wisconsin during the Great Depression. His closest neighbors were 59 yr. old, German born, Mrs. Anna Millard and her children, 26 yr. old Oscar R. Neeb and 17 yr. old Helen C. Millard in section 26. The Nick J. Beaver family and the Joe & George Wendel families lived just to the south.
Pelsdorf was a farming neighborhood south and a bit east of Loyal, Wisconsin. The community was centered around a Cheese Factory, St. Balthasar's Catholic Church built in 1893 (now called St. Anthony’s) and the "Mack" one room School (Sec. 22) where Gwen (Fensome) Piggott taught for a number of years. Irma (Schaeffner) Hollister grew up nearby and says, "The community was really not even a wide spot in the road. It was an undefined area known by the name Pelsdorf ." Her son, Carl, suggests the vicinity may have reminded some of the earliest settlers of another Pelsdorf in their old country and it called that in its memory. It was never officially incorporated by that name and today the only trace of the community is Pelsdorf Ave. which would have been the main road running through it.
The Pelsdorf Cheese Factory was later known as Schlinsog’s and subsequently, "Catlin Corner’s Cheese Factory."
