Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Calmes, 96, of Wausau, who died Thursday afternoon, April 28, at St. Mary’s hospital where she was admitted Wednesday, were held Monday morning. A mass of requiem was sung at St. Michael’s Catholic church, Wausau, at 10 o’clock with the Very Rev. John Krasowski officiating. Interment was made in St. John the Baptist cemetery, Wuerzburg. Mrs. Calmes was a member of the parish council of St. John the Baptist Catholic church, Wuerzburg.
Mrs. Calmes was born Jan. 18, 1870, in Appleton, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ellenbecker. Her marriage to Theodore Calmes took place in Machville April 26, 1892. They lived in Marathon county since 1910. Mr. Calmes died in 1952.
She is
survived by six daughters, Amalia and Barbara, with who she lived, Wausau, Mrs.
Anton Schmirler, Abbotsford, Mrs. Joseph Boser, Milwaukee, Mrs. Elmerd
Schemenauer, town of Frankfort, and Mrs. Charles Scherer, Chicago; four sons,
George of Abbotsford, Joseph and Norbert of Wuerzburg and Peter of Wausau; three
brothers, John Ellenbecker and Alex Ellenbecker of Wausau and William
Ellenbecker, Edgar; 31 grand children and 72 great grand children.
