Austin, Gladys (Seitz) (1 AUG 1922 - 27 JUN 2014)
Gladys Austin, age 91, was called home to Heaven on Friday, June 27, 2014.
She was born August 1, 1922, in the Town of Day, Marathon County, to the late
Leo M. and Ella (Helms) Seitz. She graduated from Stratford High School class of
1940. Gladys married Arnold Austin on February 14, 1942.
Gladys and Arnold had a dairy farm on Eau Pleine Park Road. Together they spent
the greatest portion of their married life farming and enjoying the outdoors in
and around the Eau Pleine County Park and Flowage. They were members of Immanuel
Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mosinee. They moved to Mosinee in 1991. Arnold
passed away in 1992, just a month after celebrating their 50th wedding
anniversary. Gladys then spent her time visiting children and grandchildren. She
had resided at the Colby Retirement Community and passed away at the Golden
LivingCenter in Abbotsford.
Survivors include her children, Ardene Witz, West Bend, Diane (Larry) Rosenbrook,
Bloomer, Rhonda (John) Frank, Sheboygan; grandchildren, Brett (Angie) Witz,
Decatur, Ga., Brenda (John) Traver, Simla, Colo., Jaclyn (Tim) Dolan, Bruce,
Kelly (Todd) Schmidt, Colby, Brian Frank, Tempe, Ariz.; great grandchildren,
Jared and Ella Witz, Jordan and Austin Traver, Kyla, Michael and Brandi Reischel,
Hailey (Chris) Holt, Justine and Morgan Williams; and great-great grandchildren,
Aspyn and Arielle Holt, Demi Becker and Aria Holland to be born in August;
sisters, Verna (Aulney) Brown, Tacoma, Wash., Elaine (Don) Ahlers, Flandreau,
S.D.; brothers, Donald (Delores) Seitz, Platteville, Harold (Joyce) Seitz,
Stratford; and sister-in-law, Helen Seitz, Wisconsin Rapids.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond, Marvin and Kenneth Seitz.
Service was at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church,
Mosinee. Rev. Andrew Schmidt presided. Burial was in Mosinee Cemetery, Mosinee.
Visitation was from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the
church.
Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is in charge of arrangements.
