Gregorich, Mr. and Mrs. Joe (40th - 3 August 1972)

A Greenwood couple, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gregorich, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday, August 6. Highlighting the celebration was a 10 o’clock mass said at St. Mary’s Catholic Church by the Rev. Leander Koopman. A special blessing and renewal of marriage vows was performed following the mass. The Zepaltas sisters sang.

This was followed by a picnic at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gregorich, where 100 relatives gathered for the afternoon, which included dinner, visiting and card playing. A lunch was served later in the day. In the evening friends and relatives enjoyed dancing. There was a mock wedding and a lunch was served after the dance.

Joe Gregorich and the former Julia Tomac were married at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard August 3, 1932, by the Rev. John Novak. Their attendants were Frank Jaris of Chino, California, and Mrs. Ed (Mary Tomac) Maass of Withee. They farmed in the Greenwood area until 1959. Later they moved back to Greenwood.

Those attending the event were their children and their families: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gregorich of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gregorich of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. La Vern Gregorich of Willard; Mr and Mrs. William Gregorich of Kimball, Ne.; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Scheuerman of Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gregorich, Jr., and family of Vacaville, Ca, were unable to attend. Their 24 grandchildren and their wedding attendant, Mrs. Ed Maass, the bride’s cousin, were present. A special guest was Mrs. Mary Gregorich of Willard, mother of the celebrant.

Relatives and friends came from Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, and Loyal, Willard, Withee, Spencer, Chippewa Falls, Ladysmith, New Berlin, Auburndale, Manawa, Waunakee and Thorp.
