St. Hedwig's Catholic Church is now formulating plans to celebrate their parish
Diamond Jubilee. The parish was founded in 1891. The jubilee celebration will
begin with a Solemn High Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, May 28th. This is the
start of many activities for the Memorial Day Weekend. Also on May 28th there
will be two banquets at the Quonset Hall, one at 12:30 p.m. and one at 6:30 p.m.
to accommodate all the people who want to attend.
On Tuesday, May 30th at 10:30, which is Memorial Day, there will be an outdoor
Mass for the dead at the cemetery north of the church. This Mass is also for the
many members of the armed forces who are buried there.
St. Hedwig's has already received Papal blessing, which is the Holy Father's
official document commemorating the Diamond Jubilee.
The parish will publish a historical book the latter part of the year marking
the closing of their Diamond Jubilee. If anyone has old pictures, stories, or
anything of interest for this historical book, please send them to Father
Masalewicz, pastor.
