Becherer, JoAnne (Marriage - 19 August 1972)

Miss JoAnne Becherer, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard J. Becherer of Rt. 1 Granton, became the bride of Gary Lee Peterson on Saturday, August 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Peterson of Waupaca. The Rev. Eugene Gaurke performed the 7 p.m. double-ring ceremony before an altar decorated with vases of white carnations and orchid gladioli. Approximately 225 guests attended a reception at Cedar Springs resort, Manawa.

For her marriage, the bride chose a full-length white gown featuring a Spanish-laced bodice with a scoop neckline and long sleeves caught to lace cuffs interlaced with pale pink ribbon. Her veil, trimmed with matching lace and interwoven ribbon, fell into a full train. She carried a nosegay of white carnations and pink tea roses with floor-length pink streamers as she was presented in marriage by her father.

Miss Marie Becherer of Milwaukee was her sister’s honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Miss Mary Vorland of Oshkosh, Miss Judy Schraufnagel of La Crosse and Mrs. William Storck of Waupaca. Their orchid and blue flower-print gowns were complimented by orchid hair-braid hats. Baskets of orchid asters and white carnations and baby’s breath completed the ensembles.

John Kneuppel, Eau Claire, served as bestman. Groomsmen were John Becherer of West Allis and Dennis Girard and Jim Kreeger of Waupaca. Guests were seated by Paul Becherer of Milwaukee and David Madson of Scandinavia.

The bride, a graduate of Colby High School and of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, is a teacher At Wauwatosa West High School. She is a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma sorority. Her husband, who graduated from Waupaca High School, is employed as a railroad crane operator. Following a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin, the newlyweds will live in West Milwaukee.
