Peterson, Ruth M. (Anderson) (27 JUN 1933 - 8 JUL 2014)
Ruth M. Peterson, 81, Dorchester, was pronounced dead on Tuesday, July 8 at
Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, where she had been taken earlier
by ambulance.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's
Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. Kelly Taylor-Schaus officiating. Interment
of her cremated remains will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II at a
later date. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Allen Hamus, and Clint, Josh, Shawn,
Dustin and Jordon Peterson.
Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford on Friday, July 11 from
4 to 7 p.m., and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of
service.
The former Ruth Anderson was born on June 27, 1933 in Medford to the late Elmer
and Grace (Clarkson) Anderson. She attended Medford area elementary schools.
On June 27, 1953 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stetsonville, she
married Charles O. Peterson, who survives. She was a housewife and mother and
also worked at Dorchester Furniture and Silberman's Fur in Medford. In 1990,
they moved to Minnesota where she worked as a bookkeeper for a ginseng farm
until her retirement in 1997, then moved to Dorchester.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed visits from her
children and their families, camping and Saturday nights watching Molly B.
In addition to her husband, survivors include 15 children, Julie (Ron) Haas of
Marshfield, Debora (Lance) Dahl, Mike (Beverly) Peterson, Dale (Chris) Peterson,
Darla Peterson, Kevin Peterson, Kenny (Amy) Peterson and Chucky (Carrie)
Peterson, all of Medford, Mark (Audrey) Peterson of St. Charles, Mo., Charlene
(George) Velon of Chicago, Ill., Larry Peterson of Wausau, Patricia (Roger)
Hamus of Unity, Cindy (Russell) Hamus of Dorchester, Jamie Peterson of St.
Francis, Minn., and David (Leeta) Peterson of Rib Lake; three siblings, Wally
(Norma) Anderson of Little Black, Margaret (Frank) Murphy of Medford and Russell
(Cheryl) Anderson of Withee; two sisters-in-law, Rose Anderson of Medford and
Shirley Haizel of Holcombe; 28 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and
special friend and cousin, Ruby Neuman of Medford.
