The Wis. State Telephone Foundation has announced the granting of a $500
scholarship to John Robert Boardman "Bob", son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Boardman of
Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).
The foundation, recently organized under the guidance of the Wis. State
Telephone Association, made it's first two awards this last week, among nominees
from high schools throughout the state of Wisconsin.
The State Telephone Association comprises almost all of the telephone companies
operating in Wisconsin, including the local Thorp Telephone Company.
"Bob" Boardman was chosen by the trustees on the basis of academic excellence,
all around participation in school activities, willingness to work on part time
jobs, and his desire to further his education in the Science or engineering
field.
Bob and his parents were guests of the Association and Thorp Telephone Company
at the Hotel Pfister in Milwaukee on Tuesday, May 10th, where Bob was given a
$500 certificate to be applied against expenses at the school of his choice.
